The Frugal ... Arab Costume maker???

Say what? Arent we supposed to be practicing for the Dressage show thats now less than 3 weeks away. Eh theres time for that later. Determined to do EVERYTHING with my Arab I got the crazy idea to make Diva an Arab Costume. Not only that but to make it in 2 weeks and for less than $100. Whats that I hear "your nuts", "no way"...oh naysayers and disbelievers. You know me not! When I want to do something I do it. I already have about 100 tassels made and that should be about enough for 1 row. I want 2 rows but that can always be done later. Ive started on the breast collar and my head piece but cant do much more til I get a few more supplies and some measurements of Diva (tonight). So far I have spent less than $80 and just need a few trim pieces and something for my pants. Worst case scenario I just use my breeches since I have a hunt class 2 classes later anyway. Its purple (duh!) and gold and here are some pix of the supplies and ideas:

Medium Walk C to H

Did I say trail ride last post, nah, last minute Friday night I decided to go to a show instead! No clipping, no bathing, no tack cleaning, just load her up and go to a show (a stock show that had several Pleasure horse classes). Unlike the last stock (WSCA) show we went to the classes were large. We rarely loose a halter class at an Arab open show but thats rarely the case at a stock show. But I really was there to practice things we learned in dressage in our hunt classes, including eq which has a pattern. Our ride in hunter pleasure was excellent, but we only pulled a 6th out of 10 or so entries and the judge worked us to DEATH! Then in eq we did the pattern pretty well, better than last time. First circle got a little off but good after that, still only a 6th. Show was going very slow but we stayed for western and did bridle path anyway. She was so good I expected to at least place despite another large class but nada. Guess we should have just gone on that trail ride.

At least our new dressage girth came weds and I ran out immediately to try it on, its much better, could almost go with a 20 but imagine how hard THAT would be to find! And it mostly hides the billets:)

Unfortunately we have not been able to have lesson #2 yet as our instructor is out of the country, cant wait for the next one but we need to do some more practicing!
